Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder has been diagnosed as a mental health condition and involves dramatic shifts in mood, energy, behaviour and thinking. People with bipolar disorder will experience contrasting episodes of intense highs and low.

Bipolar disorder can be unpredictable in nature. It can surface in the form of regular ups and downs throughout a person's life.

Everyone’s symptoms are different but by educating oneself to be able to distinguish between the characteristic behaviours and non-characteristic behaviours associated with Bipolar you may be able to become aware of them from an early stage.

Working with a counsellor can help people with bipolar disorder to better understand the nature of their illness and recognise the triggers of the depressive episodes. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is designed to help individuals change negative thought patterns and learn new coping skills.
